It’s been too long

I don’t really know what to say about the past several months. Every time I think I cannot get more surprised, more disgusted, more devastated by what’s going on around us, the government just chuckles and said, “Hold my beer…”

So I won’t say anything. People who know me know exactly where I stand. There’s no doubt or vague confusion there.

But I need to start writing again. I miss it. I miss the process, the sometimes-cathartic, sometimes-amusing results. I miss the interactions that writing produces, and the bonds it can build.

A quick catching up paragraph would include the Professor finally having the chance to move back closer to us — instead of 15+ hrs away, she’s now 3. I’m ecstatic. The Artist and the Ambassador are both moving as well, but just an hour away, so that is just as cool.

Jenks the Quilter Cat now has a baby sister, with whom she is decidedly less than enamored. Kisten the Quilter Cat Apprentice is extremely playful, and that super long, floofy tail that Jenks flips behind her is just too enticing to resist. The hissing is real, folks. Don’t doubt it. Jenks softens here and there, and will even play on occasion, but there is absolutely no grey area when it comes to who is the ultimate HBIC here.

The Scientist is about to celebrate a year since his successful cancer surgery. He kinda shrugged like it’s no bfd, but it is to me. We will be in Austin for a few days, so even though I’ll have to do some work stuff (conference), we’re excited to see a new place.

We’re also taking a preliminary house hunting trip in October to the USVI. I’m ecstatic. After the clusterfuck of a spring/summer that both of us have had at work, it’ll be nice to hit the paused button for a few days.

I’m still making quilts and weighted blankets. I’ve got a few projects in process, but due to the latest Scoring round, I have very little time. It’s kinda pissing me off. So hopefully soon. I’m headed north to spend some time with my favorite Athletic Trainer next month, and that should be the start of my downward stress slide. The Photographer, the Musician, and their respective offspring are all coming to visit, which brings me much elation. I cannot wait to smooch all of them. Just wish they could all be here together!

Anyhow, I’m going to try to write more…interact more, get back into the social mood.

What have you been up to?
